Water Pollution

A Threat To Safe Water

Across the earth there are signs of Water Pollution in lakes, rivers, and oceans because there have been years of Toxic Dumping.

In fact, there are few if any, bodies of water not affected by pollution.

Many of our rivers and lakes are unsuitable for recreational use or drinking water.

Most chemical Water Pollutants are Post world War 2 Chemical Compounds.  They include chemicals like sulfur and nitrogen compounds. When these compounds combine with oxygen in the atmosphere and rain, they cause acid rain.

Water Pollution - Agriculture

A large share of the runoff water pollution problem belongs to agriculture. Many states report that ground water contamination caused by runoff from farms and ranches is one of the biggest problems.

Sediments, organic matter and bacteria flow from fields and pastures by the ton. In addition to choking aquatic life in waterways, the sediments deposit traces of fertilizers, herbicide's, and insecticides in our groundwater.

Surface Water Pollution

Have you ever wondered where all the oil and gas dripping's on roads, parking lots and driveways go? Well, when it rains, many of these pollutants are carried away and end up in groundwater.

Industrial Water Pollution

Usually you hear about industrial waste water pollution when there is a chemical or oil spill. However, we do not hear very much about the wastes that go down drains and flow untreated into our groundwater.

Waste Water Pollution

Recently, we have been hearing reports on TV, News Papers and magazines about chemicals, drugs and other wastes in our drinking water. How does it get there?

Well many of our Septic and Waste Water treatment facilities simply do not treat for many of these pollutants. It's too expensive. well guess what? These untreated pollutants eventually work  their way into, you guessed it, our groundwater.

Ground Water Pollution

Ground Water Pollution is one of the biggest threats to safe water. When water is underground it is invisible to us. Fifty percent of our population depends on ground water and in rural areas, up to 90 percent of the population may depend on ground water.

Once ground water is contaminated there is no easy cure and it becomes very expensive to clean up. Ground water is a precious resource and a large contributor of public drinking water.
